How to Build Confidence as Christians

If you are a Christian, your level of confidence is important to you. So let’s see how to build confidence as Christians and do it the way God intends.

With the help of the Lord, it is possible for any Christian to learn how to build confidence. We will go through a few steps to show how this can be done.

35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

37“For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.

How to Build Confidence as Christians

Recognizing your self-worth, hanging out with positive Christian people, and accepting that you will make mistakes and you may even fail – here are four of the ways to help you build your confidence.

#1 Recognize Your Value (How Important Are You?)

This is a lesson in self-worth that will help you find your value. Regardless of how much money you make, how many friends you have, or what you do for a living, the most important thing is that you know your value and are not afraid to share it with the world.

Be sure not to feel overly “self important,” though. You are valuable, but you are the most valuable to Jesus Christ, and He doesn’t like arrogance.

#2 How to Build Confidence by Surrounding Yourself with Positive People

It’s easy to find negativity in your life. It’s just a matter of digging deep enough and finding it. But what is harder to find are the people who lift you up and bring out the best in you. People who encourage, support, love, and care for you.

If you haven’t yet, find a solid, Bible-believing church and join a small community of other Christians. Those in your community can also help you learn how to build confidence.

#3 Accept Your Mistakes and Failures

Embrace your mistakes. Learn from them, and use them as a stepping stone to achieve greatness. Everyone makes mistakes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn from them. They can help you grow as a person and as a Christian, so don’t be ashamed of making mistakes.

#4 How to Build Confidence by Focusing on What You Can Control, Not on What You Can’t

In life, there are many difficulties that seem unavoidable. However, it’s important to be mindful of the things we can control in order to not succumb to stress or worry. We can use, or better yet memorize the Serenity Prayer as a way of focusing on what we can control and letting go of what seems unchangeable.

Self-esteem vs. Self Confidence – Are Confidence and Self-esteem the Same?

Confidence is the belief that one can succeed at something, while self-esteem is how much one values oneself.

Confidence and self-esteem are not the same, but they are still related to each other. The more confident someone is, the more self-esteem they will have. They both have to do with judging or evaluating oneself in relation to a standard or another person.

And these two emotions can be very similar when it comes to how we see ourselves in relation to others and our ability to achieve a goal. Self-esteem increases with self confidence and vice versa.

What Does the Bible Say About Christians and How to Build Confidence

The Bible shows that self-confidence is crucial for success. It is important to have confidence in yourself, in your work and in your relationships.

There are many reasons why Christians might not be confident. It may be due to a difficult past or present life experience or it could even be because they don’t have the conviction in their hearts that God is working on their behalf.

The Bible talks about the confidence of our hearts and the assurance we have from God. It also highlights some behaviors which are not indicative of having a confident spirit and challenges us to reflect on them.

How to Build Confidence with the Bible and Prayer

There are many ways that Christians can learn how to build confidence in themselves but it really comes down to what will give you peace and bring about lasting change in your life for God, not for the temporary rush of a moment.

  1. Read scriptures or verses from the Bible that speak to your heart and have an inward effect on you.
  2. Journal in a book where you can write out prayers and quotes from the Bible that have been meaningful in your life. Include time lines, goals, and even things you are looking forward to in the future. Write out your prayers, feelings, and any thoughts you have about life.
  3. Pray, pray, and pray some more!

Believe in Your Strengths, Skills, and God

One of the definitions of confidence is “belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance.”

Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and no one person can do everything. So even though you know your skills are often inconsistent, it doesn’t mean you should stop trying. God is always there as a resource to rely on when everything else fails.

There is a difference in being confident with what you’re able to do and being confident with what God’s currently doing. Christians are told not to rely on our own strength in ourselves and remember that we can only trust God.

This isn’t ignoring our skills or anything like that, but instead relying on God. As it says in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”

That’s wise advice. If you want know how to build confidence as Christians, simply trust in the Lord.
